1. Winner of Inter school Table Tennis Tournament 

 Our school Junior team has won the first position in the Inter school Table Tennis Tournament organised by Vidyodaya School, Thevakkal held on 22nd July 2016.

Activities in Greets Public School (2016-2017)

1. Training Program for Teachers

           A Digital Class Training program was held on 13th June 2016 by Teach Next Education at School Campus. Mr. Linto Thomas , C EG Regional Training Head of Kerala conducted the session.

 

2. World Day to Combat Desertification and drought Celebration

     On 17th June 2016 ,Greets Public School Conducted an Awareness Speech of World Day to Combat Desertification and drought to sensitize students about the core environmental challenges related to land at School Campus.

         

3.   International Reading Day Celebration

         International Reading Day was observed in the school campus on 20th June 2016. Principal, Mrs. Jaya Sabin spoke in the assembly on the importance of inculcating reading habit among children. Master Mikhail Joseph of XI B gave a speech on International Reading Day and its relevance in today’s world. All students were asked to bring a news paper to the school and were made to read it in the class. Various activities like debates, quiz, Word hunt, Group Discussion etc were held related to the articles they read. All students participated in the activities enthusiastically.

4. Yoga Day Celebration

     Mass Yoga demonstration was held in the School Campus on 21st June 2016 to celebrate International Yoga Day.
Students from JKG to XII Participated in the mass yoga demo under the instructions of Physical Education instructors, Principal, Mrs. Jaya Sabin and Vice Principal, Mrs. Annamma John supervised the event where children from the K G Section to XII were trained in various asanas like Thadasana,Pashchimothasana and Bhujangasana.They were also given some lessons on Pranayama and meditation.The event was organized by the students of Std XI B.

5. Career guidance program

    Career guidance program conducted for Std 11 students and their parents on 29th June 2016. Mr. George Mathai (Chairman of Terrafirm) and Mr. Micheal Rodrigues (Coordinator of corporate communications) conducted the orientation program.

6. Investiture Ceremony 2016.

Greets Public School is entering a new year of student leadership.

 

 7. Literary Competition 2016-2017

The Students of Greets Public School had a fabulous opportunity to showcase their literary talents as they celebrated “Literary Week” from 25th July to 27th July 2016.Various Competitions like Story Writing, Essay Writing, Recitation, Speech, Extempore etc were organized. The events gave students chance to display their Spontaneity, Creativity and Linguistic expertise. Each and every student took part in the events as it added points to their respective houses. The much awaited announcement of results was done on 27th July 2016.

Poets in Malayalam

 O. N. V KURUP

 

Ottaplakkal Neelakandan Velu Kurup (27 May 1931 – 13 February 2016), popularly known as O. N. V. Kurup was a renowned Malayalam poet and lyricist.

He won the Jnanpith Award, the highest literary award in India for the year 2007.

He received the awards Padma Shri in 1998 and Padma Vibhushan in 2011.

He was the Left Democratic Front (LDF) candidate in the Thiruvananthapuram constituency for the Lok Sabha elections in 1989.

O. N. V.'s first published poem was 'Munnottu' (Forward) which appeared in a local weekly in 1946.

His first poetry collection, Porutunna Soundaryam, came out in 1949. He published a book named Dahikunna Panapatram which was a collection of his early poems.

Sir Isaac Newton

 

Sir Isaac Newton(25 December 1642 – 20 March 1726) was an English physicist and mathematician.His book Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica ("Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy"), first published in 1687, laid the foundations for classical mechanics.

Newton's Principia formulated the laws of motion and universal gravitation, which dominated scientists' view of the physical universe for the next three centuries.

Newton built the first practical reflecting telescope and developed a theory of colour based on the observation that a prism decomposes white light into the many colours of the visible spectrum.

M T Vasudevan Nair

Madathil Thekkepaattu Vasudevan Nair is an Indian author, screenplay writer and film director.

His famous works are Naalukettu, Manju, Kaalam, Asuravithu and Randamoozham.

He has won numerous other awards and recognition including Sahitya Akademi Award, Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award, Vayalar Award, Vallathol Award and Ezhuthachan Award.

He was awarded the J.C. Daniel Award for lifetime achievement in Malayalam cinema for the year 2013.

Greets Public School

Bethel Foundation, the mother organisation of this educational institution was registered in the year 1975, as a no profit motive entity. After a few years, the educational project was initiated as a small play school under the name "Ding Dong Kindergarten".
The main pillars of the organisation during the initial period were Ms.Edith Vergina Greet, an American social worker and Shri.Thomas Vadakekut, a renowned business man and an eminent journalist.

In 1985, the Board of Directors had decided to upgrade the kindergarten to a full fledged English Medium School, affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, and also took a decision to change the name of the school as Greets Academy and later as Greets Public School.
The development of the school to the present level is the contribution of Shri.Thomas Vadakekut, the Chairman of the organisation, with his vision, specific planning, team work and sincere hard work. Innovations in infrastructure, new technologies, disciplined campus and also quality of faculties are imperative for making an educational institution, vibrant and successful. This was the vision of Shri.Thomas Vadakekut and with this dream, he shaped out this temple of learning to the present glorious level, for grooming the disciplined citizens of tomorrow.
Now the organisation has developed into a large institution, spread in morethan 2 Acres of land in the heart of Kochi city. Bethel Foundation owns the school and manages its affairs through a dedicated and committed Board of Directors.
